I’m trying to purchasing a 1997 330 DA. Survey found the underwater exhaust port is missing and the bottom soundings showed a small area 2" X 2" aft of the Port exhaust that were suspect (the missing one). I have a quote for replacing the port. But I’m concerned about suspect area in the hull. Any thoughts about it would be appreciated.

I’m assuming needs to addressed. Any guess as to that repair might cost. Or is too big of an issue and I should just walk away. (Rest of boat checked out pretty sound.)

TIA
Lew

Is that a 2 inch or 2 foot area?

The 330DA was a solid hull boat, so any moisture is just water wicked into the fiberglass. A 2"X2" spot on the bottom is a cheap fix ($250) since there is no gelcoat to match or fair and no core to worry about. You can probably get the seller to pay for the repair, but this shouldn't be a deal stopper.

Get a quote and make a deal in writing before you exchange any money or sign on the dotted line. Proceed cautiously with the help of professionals.

A boat yard "ya, that looks like a $250-500 repair" turned into over $4k for me. I should have investigated further when I KNEW there was damage.

Don't let it scare you, just don't make the mistake I did.
