My wife gave them a picture of the boat and got me a long and short sleeve shirt(s) and tumblers with the graphics. The place does really nice work and quality materials.

I checked them out a while back. DTG is what they use. Basically a printer prints it on the shirt or on a transfer paper to be heat pressed on the tumblers and cups. I see four colors in that. Wouldn't be too bad to embroider on things. Not sure what they want to do that service, but I bet it's beyond premium.

I’ve had multiple photos turned into art by TCC. Aside from their slow edit process……I’m happy with the final products. The nice thing is being able to order 1 or 2 items at a time with no minimums. My local print shop has a 25 shirt minimum, lol.

I have never understood that. Minimums and setup fees. I can see with screenprinting because there is a large amount of set up. But nothing else has a big setup that requires a few. Same with the minimum. I do more one or two items than the big orders.

Screen printing usually has minimums. There are printers that will print on fabric medium but the local shop can only do one color. If you have a logo/image converted to a vector format, those can be embroidered easily. I had a shop do that with the boat name for my dad on 3 polos for Christmas and it was reasonable cost.

The Direct To Garment printers can do more than one color. Unless your print head is plugged and only one color jet is working.

I do a lot of embroidery with just a photo. I use a company for digitizing and they prefer to have a standard image for Wilcom software. I wish I had the $8k-12k for the software. But at $20 per design, it's not that bad. I had one digitizer that charged by the stitch. He did one for me with 85k stitches and charged me $90 for just the stitch file.

I refuse to charge the setup fee and don't like the minimum either. If someone only needs a couple shirts or hoodies, why lose the business with a minimum. Hell, I really don't like passing on the digitizing cost, but don't need to lose that out of my time. Going rate is about $1.35 per 1000 stitches. Break even is about $0.68. But that cost is going up monthly.

That’s what I’m talking about here….screen printing. I wouldn’t want an embroidered dri fit, or hoodie, or really anything wearable other than a hat.

I do a lot of embroidered shirts and hoodies. With the better threads, they are softer on the body. I have had work shirts, years ago, that would rub the skin raw. Doing my own stuff, I found the proper threads so that isn't an issue.

I don't care for how screen printing, DTG and heat press looks after a short time. The cracking and peeling. And with heat press on large areas, the swampy feel behind the design.

But we all have our preferences
