Hi we are looking at 240 an 260 sundecks. our dealer has leftover 2010s in both fully equipped he said. He is asking 59995 for 240 an 64995 260 and said All reasonable offers will be seriously considered so what do you guys think and what model should i look at thanks

Can you afford either model? The Sea Ray 260 SunDeck is the best selling boat in America. I would suggest that between the 240 and 260 SunDeck you go with the 260. My wife and I had a deposit on a 260 but ended up going with a 2011 280 since it was such a good deal.

With the 260 you can fit 2 more people and the boat is ~ 2' longer. The extra mass can help with a slightly smoother ride.

IMO ... Look at used 240 and 260 2008-2010 sundecks on the market and offer a price for the 2010 below what you can buy a used 2008-2009 one for. I would not pay any more than a used one as that is the "value" of the boat the day you take title. Saw a lot of nice 2008 and 2009 240 and 260 sundecks under $50K ... obviously options, trailer, and salt/fresh water all has impact. It is a buyers market ...

By chance is the '10 260SD the old design 260SD? Meaning, does it have, or not have, the rear facing seat in the aft? For that price, it should be the new design, but double check if you're not sure.

I am with Dennis if it's not the new design I would go with the 240. I think the 240 design was a lot better than the first 260's

You should also consider the size and ability to trailer if that applies to you. The 260 will obviously require a large garage or storage area and possibly a larger tow vehicle. If you will keep it in a slip or dry rack they might also charge by the foot. If size is not a factor, and assuming both boats are the newest models and newest layouts, I would spend the extra $5k for the 260. Offer $57k for the 260 and negotiate from there.

I lose track of the year models, for for some years, the 240SD and 260SD were the same length, it was more a designation about heft (the 260 had bigger engine choices as I recall). Look on the website for LOA to be sure, but I thought there were a lot of similarities. FWIW, we still think the 2008 240SD we had was one of the all time great boats on the planet.

I agree....I still regret getting rid our '08 240SD. I love my 280 but the 240 set the standard for all deck boats.

I have the 09 260 sundeck with the rear facing seating mine is the same size as the older 240 sundeck. The new 240 is the same size as the older 22 sundeck. We love the boat. Email me with any questions. Jeb396@bellsouth.net Make sure you get the 350 mpi motor

IMHO the older 240SD was one of the best sport boats Sea Ray made, but then again I maybe a bit bias (Grin)

I hate to hijack the thread (but I am going to anyway). Just three weeks until we take delivery of our Sundeck and enjoy the lake.

The weather is starting to get warm and my wife and son are getting antsy.

Congratulations on the new boat.

When we purchased our boat (older 220 SD), we were torn between the old 220 and the 240. For us, there were a few deciding factors:

1) I can pull the 220 with my existing tow vehicle (Trailblazer). The 240 required me to upgrade my tow vehicle.
2) The old 220 had a molded in swim platform, while the 240 was a bolt-on
3) The bow gunnels on the 220 were much higner than the 240 (better for child safety)

That being said, you might want to consider those factors as well for the new models. I am not familiar with the differences between the new 240 and 260, but I would guess that the 260 would require a full size SUV or Truck to tow it.

Just my $0.02. Either way, both are great boats!

I just bought a 2010 (new) 260 for $53,000 including the trailer. Boat is loaded with every option, I like both the 240 and 260. Decide on which one you want and make a lower offer. Depends on which one they need to sell more...

We also have a 260 Sundeck. Bought it new last year and put almost 100 hrs on it in the first year. We simple LOVE this boat. A much better ride that our previous boat - a 20 ft. Crownline bowrider. Definitely go with the 350 MAG!
