Hi all: for some reason, my original post was deleted. I am looking for opinions on the Sundeck 270 vs 290 Bow Rider. Particularly, use in rough water. We will be boating at LOTO (Lake of the Ozarks) at the 38 mile marker. Spouse wants a pontoon, I want a Sea Ray. In spite of the huge difference in cost (pontoon much less), what other issues should I be considering?

Thanks :D

Hi Seafun, thank you for reposting your question. We had a problem with backing up the database today and lost a few days worth of info. Learned some good lessons though!

Hi SEAFUN, I also boat at LOTO. I say the bigger the better there. The Sundeck is has alot of room if you plan on entertaining. The 29' Open Bow is also a good boat.

bowrider

hi seafun,
we bought a new bowrider in june this year. couldn't be any happier! got the t-350's and this boat really flies. ours has the black hull and we get lots of looks and compliments every time we go out. as to the pontoon comparison, when we started out i ghad no idea what to get (first boat) and we looked at everything. the bow rider gives you an enclosed head, lots of cooler space, fridge and sink. the seating is great for 6- 8 adults. five months and 60 hours later i'm like a little kid and i cant wait until we go out again! we're in florida and go out in the gulf regularly, this boat does just fine in up to 3' waves. from 3-5' you're getting pounded but the boat still handles very well. if you dont mind the pounding it's fun. email me any ?'s efg214@aol.com good luck on your choice! 8)

Hey SeaFun, I bought my first ski boat fall of 2002. Its a 1985 20ft bowrider with a 350 Mercruiser. Apart from not being a new boat I am very happy with it and its still old enough I can work on it and make improvements to it when I can. When I bought it I wasnt sure if I would like the open bow but I am quite pleased with it, mainly for entertaining. I am also happy with the ride, its very stable and handles the chop and weather easy in Utah area. Good luck with your buy and I hope you find what you are looking for! :)
