Well spring is finally here. But I cant uncover her until I fix a hatch leak. So today I pulled the front hatch. It was a chore. I was pretty sure I would find some rot between the fiberglass. The high side is MUSH. I didnt push on it much until I decide what i need to do to fix it. I know, I know just do it ALL OVER, but I'm really not up for that just yet. Probably next year. I've heard a lot about this stuff that can be injected as a band aid. I've heard plenty about how its not a good fix for transom rot but is it an ok fix for the sundeck/ bow? And what is the stuff called, anyone have a link to it?

Here are some pics because I know how we all love pics

You're going to need to scrape out all the rotted wood, let it dry, treat the remaining edge, let it cure and glass it back in.

Not and easy job to do if the rot extends back far.

West Systems has a great "how to" manual on this subject, I'll see if I can find my link.

Ya, I know thats the correct way to fix it. I have a few soft spots so I know if zi try to fix this its going to lead to the entire thing having to be redone. I just want to get it through this summer. Ill probably attack it in the winter. No idea about the wood floor kits or some alternative though?

I had a similar issue with my boat last year. I dug out the rotten/soft wood and used heat lamps and fans to dry the core. After that, I cut sections of plywood to fit in the voids and used West System 610 epoxy in the caulk tube and coated the new wood and filled in voids. I then inserted the new wood into the epoxy and used a bunch of C-clamps to secure the skins to the new wood core. After everything cured, I removed the clamps and used a palm sander to shape the wood to the conours of the opening. I then used some epoxy resin to treat the newly sanded wood and then reinstalled the hatch. Worked very well for me.

I went with your advise. I completed it today. I'll be out of town for two days so it will have plenty of time to cure. I hope it works. I figured this rot came from the wood rails not being sealed where they screw into the deck. The rot went a good six inches up. Even if this does fix it I'll need to to redo the deck before next year. (Im working on posting a few pictures.

West Sytems six 10. Awesome stuff. Feels good enough to get me through the summer if not longer. Thanks for the advise guys

I am about to do this on my 1995 330 Sundancer. The rot is around the large hatch. I spoke to a fiberglass guy and he told me to use Epiglass. I know this thread is 6 years old but wondering if anyone can respond if they have used Epiglass before? thanks
