Sundeck EIM Replacement Video

Good luck! There is an axiom, "If it's not broke, don't fix it." I've bee undertaking electrical projects since I received "The Boy Electrician." With semiconductors, a problem is revealed by a wisp of smoke and board failure. It can be frustrating. Then there is the ongoing issue of how to make a connection on a boat which becomes more concerning when dealing with microcurrents. Under that dash, the first issue is finding a good, uncompromised ground.

How did your project turn out?
I’ll tell you what @JayhawkCurtis, I replaced mine last year and it was a great upgrade. Then I sold my EIM on flea bay for $400.00. Paid for 1/2 of the upgrade. I recorded a video of the stock EIM working beforehand and posted it in my selling description with the caveat, “ This is “as is” - I am not a boat mechanic so I assume that when you purchase this EIM you have an understanding of how to install it - no refunds”

Kevin at FP recommended I go with the rectangle and opposed to the original peanut style, because for the Weekender, that was what it was if it didn’t have the EIM.

X2 looks great! I made the same change, so happy that I don’t have to worry about the EIM breaking anymore!

Remembered this old thread, the OP never made a follow up video, and hasnt been back on board in over a year.

Forgot @OllieC posted his pics

I'm seeing these on used boats and wonder about the switches. Waterproof toggles have black rubber boots, possibly Mercruiser's desire to avoid in using the EIM. The add-on boots fall off. You could fill up the socket with silicone brake grease.

Otherwise, you should tether the boat like a living animal as corrosion will eventually make random connections waking the dreaded ghost in the machine. Or, maybe just a dead battery.
