Anyone every thought of removing the front ladder to make the anchor easier to get to?

Also I wish I had a cleat in the center of the bow. I tie the anchor to one of the cleats on the side of the bow but if I'm under heavy wind or current the boat will drift sideways putting strain on the anchor.

Any ideas?

The ladder isn't my real issue, not sure about yours, but my anchor locker lid opens toward the back of the boat rather than sideways like on the newer decks. It's a pain to deal with. Also, I've never had a problem with the side cleats on the bow and wouldn't want a cleat up in the middle.

If you dont' have some chain on your anchor, I highly suggest it.

The chain does make a big difference and I have added more. A sideways door would make it easier to get to the anchor. Yesturday I made a makeshift way to position the anchor line to the center of the bow and it made a big difference.

I don't know how far of a reach it is to your bow eye, perhaps a shackle there to run the anchor line through to the cleat would work. My other thought, though not sure how it would work, would be to try some sort of a Y configuration from the two cleats akin to a ski Y.

That being said, I've never found it that annoying to have to fix.

The bow eye is too far down or my arms are too short. The anchor eye inside the locker is closer. I have tried the Y thing. What kinda knot would I tie to the Y to hold the anchor?
