i'm hoping to get to the july3 one. i would go by boat - to crowded to go by land. more interested in the fireworks which are pretty good. i should know this but where do you keep your boat?

It's a darn shame they do the firework on Thursdays. But I guess that's so the weekend people don't enjoy them. On the other hand, I don't have to patronize their sponsors either. We can shop at home and bring food down, my insurance will never be with gecko. Installed a entirely new stereo system so that with Sirius and CDs, I don't need those old-fashioned and out of date terrestrial radio stations. I won't buy Coke and stock it on the boat, which leaves more room for Boylan's. Sponsorship cuts two ways. Don't patronize the local businesses.

But if we're down on Thursdays, it's grab the comfy chairs out from storage on the boat, step off the swim platform to the dock, turn right, walk 40 feet and find a nice spot at the end of the Tee.

Best regards,
Frank C

Ron, I'm in chandwick island marina. How far is it from me, what's the approach by boat? The 3rd sounds nice. If it's not to far I would try to make it after work.

you've got to head north, go under the mantoloking br, bear left to the metedeconk river. head west about 2 1/2 miles up the river and look for the many anchored boats. i'd say it's about 8-10 miles for you. with the no-wakes probably a 45 min ride. frank, would you agree?? you cant hear the concert from the water so you just need to get there while it's still light, so you can see better and so you can get a good spot (there really arent any bad spots for fireworks). i've heard the TR shows are better but these are good for a few ooo's and ahhhh's. if you wind up going (and i wind up going) we should hook up.

Well.. . .If one was completely nuts, you could do Brick on the 3rd and TR on the 4th. Of course, doing that narrow channel North of the Mantalokin bridge at night with 600 of my favorite drunken friends doesn't sound like much fun.

I did Toms River last year, and I found the combination of 4' waves in the bay and the rain kept the numbers to a managable level.

cant afford the gas:smt089

The 320 is pretty quick. Should be no more than 45 minute boat ride.

Ron,
If I understood correctly, it's not possible to hear the concert from water? If going there just for fireworks I don't think it's worth it. We have nice view right from our dock. I also heard that a nice spot for fireworks is at Pelican Isl. I always wanted to make it, but never got a chance. I'm heading out to AC for that weekend, so if we can't hear or see the concert well, I think we'll skip it or go by car.

Well. . . I hear you on that one.

HOWEVER. . .look at it this way: At night, you will tend to run at hull speed -> Especially around the Mantalokin bridge. That is the most economical way to run!

Personally, seeing fireworks on the water at night (at close range) is one of the reasons I got a SeaRay to supplement my blow-boat. My Bristol is way too slow for an evening of fireworks (especially when you need bridge openings!)

Ok gang;

I am planning to do both the Brick fireworks on Thursday and TR on Friday.

Planning to fuel up tomorrow at Good Luck point; maybe catch lunch at Water's edge. . . and do both sets of fireworks (I LIKE FIREWORKS!!)

Anyone else cruising out?

I'm scheduled to head out to Beach Haven on the 4th.

We're going down to Brick tonight. My wife has to work today :(

Best regards,
Frank

I'll be in Atlantic City....leaving in about an hour. Borgata and Harrahs have contracted with Grucci for what they classify as 'world class' fireworks....we shall see. Those Fireworks are scheduled for tonight, July 3rd.

planning a raft up ( for the raft of threag) tonight off windward beach for fireworks. alex - where are you bedding down in beach haven?

Ron, I'm looking to try staying anchored at the cove Dominic had suggested. I'm planning to arrive there early to asses the situation and then make final decision. I'm keeping in mind BHYC as a backup, but also they told me if they have room I can dock there for few hours to go on shore and restorants around. I just posted on the other thread that I couldn't find any dock and dine places. Everything has only one to offer. Nothing with both.

Gah!

So there we were. . . .anchored with 800 of our favorite boats waiting for fireworks in Brick. . .and it doesn't happen! Most frustrating.

But the wine, sushi, and pasta was good!

And I made my first Mantaloking Bridge crossing at night. Geez. . .those dang bouys are darn hard to spot. We could barely see them at 30 feet -> and the no-wake bouys are hard to distinguish from the nuns and cans even with a spotlight on them.

Thank goodness for a good working GPS! Using the GPS, I didn't challenge my depthfinder.

Radar is the best way to navigate at night. Once you get into a radar equipped boat, you don't want to go back to being in the dark. Even GPS isn't as good.

Best regards,
Frank C

Well. . .true!

If my boat had a radar arch, I would have radar. But since I don't have an arch. . .I don't have radar.

Really not needed, in my mind, for navigating barnegate bay.
