Just thought I'd post these few photo's to help you guys thaw out up North. My daughter and her partner were passengers on this trip and this time I didn't throw myself out of the dinghy!!

Leaving the marina at Gulf Harbour. Heads turned by a couple of superyachts berthed nearby.

On the plain, CSR pennant on the fly.

Do Not Converse With Driver...he's looking for a wave to jump over. No cigar this day though!

Chasing workups spotted a few miles out in the Hauraki Gulf.

Every boat needs a figurehead and my daughter obliged to be our one.

As good as it gets!

The admiral is an important part of my boating and taking her to a cafe on one of our islands in the Gulf is great. I think a peacock is running around in the back somewhere.

Oh no, here he is on the roof!

A bit more fun at the end of a fun day. Bon Accord Harbour for the night. She knows the rules. What happens on the boat, stays on the boat. Except for the photos which go all over the world.

Great pics, thank you for sharing!

Interesting to see that I'm on a Boat shirt in NZ. A friend has it here!

Hi Kiwi Graham,

I tried Burnsco, Sailors Corner and Smart Marine but they only had wooden poles or a folded metal pole with a fairly rough fitting attachment. So, I looked overseas and with some advice from this forum purchased from Bosun Supplies. Product link is:

With both the pole and the bracket and the exchange rate taken into account, it's not the cheapest staff in town. I wonder if I could have done it cheaper having one prefabricated by a marine stainless engineering crowd here in NZ, but then you only have to mention 'custom made' and the meter flag falls at over $200 anyway! My daughter tsk, tsks whenever I mention the staff:grin: but I have to say it is well made and it looks good even without a burgee on it. Bosun Supplies deilvered the goods within a week which is pretty fantastic really considering I live in rural delivery only 30km in a straight line from Auckland CBD and it can take up to four days to receive something from the other side of town! As our American friends say..go figure!

We are heading out of Gulf Harbour tomorrow and if its calm enough over to the east of Tiri looking for some workups. Maybe we'll see you out there:thumbsup:

firecadet613,

My wife purchased this shirt from either chargrilled t-shirts in the UK or maybe anotehr site in the US. No chance you could otherwise buy this in NZ.

katricol,

The weathers good now and getting warmer. Your Son should have a good time. Make sure he goes on a charter fish on the Gulf if he's got time.!!

Spent a few days out on the boat in and around the Waitemata Harbour and Hauraki Gulf with the family.
My eldest has learnt how to cast his rod and my youngest has found nooks and crannies I didn't know existed to put little ponies!!
A fantastic few days but it's back to work tomorrow :smt009

I know that feeling well! Back to work tomorrow for me as well. Nice pics KG. It looks like your wife found a real picturesque spot to fish. The Gulfs been real nice over the past few days but listening to the charter boat boys on CH62, it doesn't sound like it's been too good for fishing. Then again you can never trust what those guys say on the radio. Apart from serious fishing, deception and mis-direction is part of their game:lol:.

Been out to Gt Barrier yet?

Terry

Great pics - thanks. You make a pretty good Colonel Hannibal Smith in that hat!
