Last weekend we moved to our summer home at the island 4n.miles from where I live in winter.:smt038
Yesterday I was off and took the first official solo trip of summer 2011.
Weather was 30C, sea temp 21C but sea was 3-5Bft and half meter wave.
Here are a few photos my wife took from the shore while I was approaching to the marina which is just two houses far from my home.
My wife is an amateur photographer and she took the photos like a cartoon film, 1 pic to per second.
Hope you enjoy.

melida, looks like it was a nice day to be out on the water. Congrats on getting your baby wet! I like the action photos your wife took. Very nicely done and thanks for sharing them with us. I bet that boat with the diesel in it runs well. Not many diesel powered boats that size in this country. Most people don't step up for diesels until they get boats over 40'. That's too bad because the economy is sure there with diesels.

Thanks GFC. Having a bad and windy/wavy day at sea/boat is better than a good day at work. :smt038
Indeed my boat is 12 months on the sea and she is wet year round.
I leave my wife at home sometimes for taking my photos while returning to home.:smt043
Long story short had a performance problem because of bad diesel but now its gone and knock the wood its acting like a gas boat.
Yesterday wind was NE and while going I had it from by port/bow and when returning had it from Sboard/aft. Both ways wave were just paralel to the hull and I couln’t escape from them. She did 20knots-23mph on plane and 33knots at wot. I guess its identical to a gas 280DA.
Where I live there are 9 islands and 7 of them is civilised and in the first one I spend my summers.
Where I live traffic is very very crowded and it's possible to drive a 20km way 1,5-2 hours after work. So I use my boat as a car and do more hours than kms of my car.
In my country the diesel is way to go on boat even in a 240DA however having a diesel car is heard economic but in this crowded traffic we can't do the kilometers to amortise the initial cost difference of diesel.
I have a BMW 320 and a 530 both gas and had a 740iL gas(sold) never complained and never thought to buy them diesel. This is just the similar logic to buying 40+ boats diesel in USA.

Melida,
Great action photos. Interesting concept on the diesels vs gas. My next boat will be diesels - even if I go to a smaller boat. Enjoy the boat and your commute.

Joe, thanks for the compliments.
As for the diesel vs gas I can tell you a basic math. I'm burning least possible 13,5LPH at cruising speed when the bottom/gear is clean. Once it was severely fouled and burned 19LPH. These are average consumption calculated from las fill up to new fill up. So if I bought my boat gas powered whether single 496 or twin 4.3 or twin 5.0s it would burn 65LPH at best conditions. I can't imagine how much would it burn when the bottom is fouled, I guess close to 100LPH.
I bought my boat used from a friend's friend. He was upsizing, bought a Fairline Targa 48 with VP IPS. He wanted to get rid of this boat and I bought it cheaper than a gas 280DA. He got much more discount from Fairline than he sold me the boat with loss.
So I don't paid/have the initial cost of a diesel engine. Doing almost same cruise speed and a few knots less wot while burning 4-5 times less is extremely recommended who things it's not worth to buy a boat in this size diesel instead of gas.
