I am sorry I do not have my signature for the board so let me give you that info here. I have a 1998 230 BR Select, with a 7.4 MPI Bravo Three. Yesterday we went to the river and had a wonderful day. It is about a thirty minute ride @ 30-35 mph to the sand bar that we go to. The boat ran great with no problems however when we left I backed the boat off the bar idled out to deeper water and hit the throttle to come on plane and heard one solid popping noise and lost propulsion. It would not go foreward or reverse. Motor was running fine but the boat would not move. It also became very difficult to move the shifter into foreward or reverse but when it did it just acted like it was on fast idle. The props seem to turn normally when rotating hem by hand. I do not know where to start to trouble shoot and would welcome any suggestions.

I have looked on line for three hours and can not find any info on how to remove out drive on B3 any suggestions where to look?

you also better get ready to pull the engine. You have probably lost the coupler between the flywheel and the outdrive.....

I can't help with the online issue. To pull a b3, first raise the drive all the way up. look underneith, there will be a small rubber hose with a yellow fitting at the drive end. gently rotate the fitting counter clockwise as you pull it away from the drive. (thats you'r speedo line). It will turn approx 1/4 of a rotation before comeing out. After you remove speedo line lower drive all the way down.
Remove lift cylinders from the drive, youcan leave them hanging on the other end, (gimble ring end), you may want to loosen the nuts on the gimble ring end, or it won't hurt a thing if you completly remove them, But DON'T REMOVE ANY HYDROLIC LINES.
There are 6 3/8 nuts that hold the drive to the bell houseing. 3 on each side, 2 are real easy to see, the 2 bottom ones are under the rib, or fin, but they are just below the others.Remove all 6. You will need a jack or one or 2 buddys. Very gently slide drive back, with transmition in neutral. As you slide the drive back look for the shift cable.slideing the drive back will actually shift the drive to forward, thats good.As soon as you can get you'r fingers between the bell houseing and the drive, you can unclip the shift cable. Just raise up on the cable, it may come loose, if not keep looking as you move the drive back untile you see the clip, raise the flat looking piece on top of the cable, the cable has a little ball on the end of it. when you free the cable slide drive the rest of the way off the studs.
