So I had had a sudden loss of power while on plane. We were moving at approximately 28 mph at 3600 rpms when all of my gauges cycled the alarm sounded and the boat briefly stalled. It happened twice with no alarms in the system page. Anyone ever experience this? It was almost as if the sc rebooted but would that cause something like this to happen? I don't know where to even start looking.

Was it both motors? I'm fighting the cool fuel module paint issue right now myself and that can cause the exact same thing. Have you been having and power issues up until now? Hard to get up to proper rpm, things like that.

If the gauges quit at the same time the motor did I'd suspect a loose electrical connection, ground wire, cannon plug, look at everything. Wiggle and pull on all your connections with the motor running.

I had the cool fuel module fix done before memorial day and it ran great from DC to the chesapeake bay. Thankfully Merc covered the parts and my aftermarket covered the labor.

So I went down and poked at all of the cables behind the dash. Tomorrow or Tuesday I'll be checking the connections at the engine. Is the system view powered from the engine harness or is it powered from the main batteries and simply triggered to come on upon engine on?

Ah copy... good deal. I had the same symptons on the port motor... ran fine then all of a sudden boom, motor just shut down in the middle of the bay. Good luck finding your issues.

Also check to make sure that you have good strong battery power to the engines. A battery with a very bad cell and voltage output can cause this problem.

Well I just replaced the port but it could be time for the starboard batteries to require a replacement as well. Thanks for the additional info.

Had a similar situation during our seatrial after both motors were pulled for trans/shaft work prior to taking ownership. Would happen intermittently and motor would restart. When it happened for the final time, motor would NOT restart, and would not alarm when you pressed the start button. We found the main wiring harness loose where it comes up to the top of the engine. If I remember correctly you have to remove the big plastic cover to gain clear access to it. For us it's the big connector that had the red tape around it indicating port side (the main connector on the stbd side has green tape). We spread the connector pins and seated it, then tightened the clamp. No issues since.
