I have a 2001 290 sundancer I'm looking to install a 10 subwoofer.... I have a few questions 1) where is the best location? 2) what do you use to cut fiberglass? 3) best brand?

1) a spot that has the woofer radiating directly into the main cabin. 3) best brand is the woofer done right. I would suggest a marine grade woofer or a high end woofer that uses a rubber surround, synthetic cone (no paper, pulp or cellulose-based cones), synthetic spider over cotton. An aluminum or composite basket is a plus, however, a steel basket with a quality powder coating over a cheap paint job is fine. Installed right, fed the proper wattage and tuned right, brand doesnt matter too much. In the 10 marine woofer arena, the Kicker KM10 is the best sounding woofer out there IMO. For a true IB application, I would put the JL 10IB 1st for sound quality but the Wet Sounds 10fa trumps it in power handling. This can be a clear advantage in some open environments. The Kicker KM10 does pretty good in an IB install, although its power handling is reduced and tuning is crucial.

Thanks I was thinking about the jl I read good reviews on it.... haven't heard much about the wet sounds or any of the others.... I was thinking about putting it under the captains seat facing the lounge bench on the port side.... has anyone put it there before

One of the other guys that used to have our era 290 put it on the stbd side of the boat underneath where the throttles are, if I remember right he had pretty good sound from that. If you dig back into the Official 1998 290 Sundancer thread I think he posted pictures
