Im looking to buy a 10" JL Marine subwoofer (M10IB5-CG-WH) and probably a JL non marine amp (in the cabin and not worth the expense of marine grade - (JX250/1). So far best Ive found is around $200-225 for the woofer and around $130 for the amp. Wondering if anyone had any ideas for better (price OR quality) or experience with these?

Do not..... I repeat. DO NOT deal with OnlineCarStereo.com. worse people on the planet to work with. Used to be great but they will take your order ask for a bunch of info and make you jump through hoops only to tell you the item is out of stock and it will be months before it will be in. Calling doesn't help as the order people have no idea what's in the warehouse ect. If I was close I'd have burnt down there building... (yes I was that infuriated) I am doing a jl install as we speak. I can't say enough about the Jl stuff thus far and their customer service has been fantastic. Best advice I have for JL stuff is go to their site find a local dealer and see if they will match the price online if not see if they can get close. If they demand full price move to another dealer. I bought my speakers from BOEMarine.com.

A quick search shows you have several locations around you.

Yes - I installed 2 M7.7" JL speakers, the JL M400/4 and a 10" JL M10" sub. I bridged two channels for the Sub and have the cockpit speakers on the other two. The cabin speakers are directly attached to the head unit on the rear channel.

It Sounds great. I went with the M400/4 even though I installed it the cuddy cabin. I figured with wet water toys, hot and cold days etc. I didn't want to take a chance on dampness or humidity in the cabin affecting the amp.

I am thinking about doing a 400/4 (non marine) and doing the same setup. I dont need the music any cleaner or louder in the cabin - if Im in there, normal music is fine, or Im sleeping. Then go with JL speakers and a sub in the cockpit in a 3 channel setup on the amp. Hmmmmmm. Decisions!

I really can't say enough great things about JL stuff. My expectations were high when I was planning/building my system and I am BLOWN AWAY with how nice and clear it is at all levels. JL all the way!

Sorry about the late reply.

Well, my Weekender looks like a baby DA. If I had a(when I eventually get a) 260 DA like yourself, I'd do the M600/6 with 4 speakers in the cockpit + sub and leave the cabin speakers attached to the head unit.

Let us know how it turns out!
