Thanks for this awesome forum. :smt038 I have posted a couple of questions that I did not get much in the way of response and wanted to ask about it. I was asking questions I felt would be best placed in the 260 or 270 threads but question if this is a good idea.

These questions only show the title of the thread so only the members that monitor that thread see the actual question. On the other hand, it would seem to clutter the forum if every basic question is posted as an original thread.

Would it be possible to create sub headings under sport cruisers, for example, for the threads of specific models such as the “Mid-90's 270 Sundancer Thread “ that have enough interest to generate many pages of varied topics.

This would allow the actual question being asked to be seen in the search results. Many users who may not monitor the thread, or may have owned a 270 in the past, in this case, could have valuable input but do not see the question.

There may also be a feature of the forum I am unaware of so let me know if that is the case.

Thanks to all who make this possible,:smt038:thumbsup:

The lack of response must mean we should post questions of current owners in the specific thread and general questions in a new thread.

Mike,
I did not see your question as I either missed them or did not have a good reply.
Question we see all the time are: Got this new boat now what should I look for, or what's the most common thing to go wrong.
These questions in themselves are not bad question, it just is a very big brush you are painting with and no one wants to enter info that’s not relevant.

Try opening a thread with. What are the engine specs for ----. How do I check my fuel sender.
We don't care how many threads you open as long as they are relevant and to the point.

Be more precise and you'll get your reply.

Cheers mate.

IMHO.

BTW, your question had 39 hits and I'm the only one to answer. That will tell you that people want to answer, they just don't know what you want.

As for getting your questions noticed, most people here use the "new post - last 24 hours" button and see all of the recent posts, regardless of which forum they are posted in. So if your title is descriptive of your question, I'm sure your questions will get read...and if they are clear and to the point as Bill describes, I think you'll get the answers you seek as well.

I think that was my over-organization posting under "Mid-90's 270 Sundancer Thread " instead of making a new thread that actually had a question in the title. As a result few noticed the post.

I still wish we had a New Posts - last 3 or 5 days for when we are away for longer than 1 day. I use a computer and Blackberry both to check posts and that makes the New since last visit not effective.

Thanks, Mike

Make sure you log in before going to "new posts within 24hrs". I use 4 different computers and using this method allows me to see what posts I've already read.

New question? Make a new post and as said earlier, try and be more specific.

Enjoy!
