Does any one have any experience or drawings showing cross sections of the sub floors in the engine room. I had SR send me some drawings, but it does not show cross sections....Ex (where the batteries are mounted, the floor in between the engines and also the transom). Is there form there or just empty space.
The other day when I was mounting new trays for my battery, I was surprised when I drilled and found what looks like deep red color wood, the type when it is wet.

Far as I know the voids are filled with foam.

If the wood came out wet from a new hole drilled in a "new" area (not near any existing holes) I'd investigate further. Water has been known to get into these voids from cracks in the glass at the bilge sumps.

Simple matter to take a hole saw and drill out a small section to investigate if the foam below is dry or if you have water trapped. If all's well, just epoxy the plug back in place and touch up with some bilge paint.

I had an early conversation with SR in Florida and he suggested the same. Suggestion was to drill at the lowest point and let gravity do its job. Also he mentioned that I may want to take a look at all hardware on the surface that may allow water to leak through and makes it way to the bottom of the boat and toward the aft section. The holes that I had drilled is new holes.

Again, thanks for your reply.
