Definitely did a nice budget upgrade. Got a refurb sony CD player with aux input for my iPod on eBay for $50, a used like new jl 10-w0 sub for $50, 4 vm audio 6.5 speakers for less than $20 each, and two new rockford punch p200.2 amp boards I bought and had to mount and add heat sinks to for $20 each. Built a ported box tuned to 40 hz, and this thing is loud! I have always loved jl subs, but these vm audio speakers sound great and looks and performance you can't beat them anywhere for the price. It was a tight fit, but Box works great under passenger seat, with losing no feet space. And the down firing position really helps with the bass output.

Oh, I did not use a marine subwoofer since it is hidden from the elements, and it's kept in a closed garage whenever not in use.

That looks like a good box, well hidden and I am a fan of pointing it down. Having it tuned to 40HZ will give excellent results, especially over the usual IB setups! Good choice! JL’s are great subs (and frankly all thier equipment), so I suspect you should get some good use out of it. Even “auto” speakers have to handle a certain amount of humidity and changing temperatures. So your sub should last quite a while. I’m sure you don’t need to me to tell you that just don’t splash it! Even if it gets a little wet, it will certainly survive. You may consider covering the distribution blocks and the amp with a piece of acrylic, just so it doesn’t accidentally splashed. Enjoy, it looks a like a nice system, inexpensive or not!

Thanks, and that's the last part of my install is to cover the amp and block. Debating on glass, vinyl, or a combo?

I’d use a combo. Vinyl to match the carpet and acrylic/lexan/plexiglass to show off your amp and wiring! Maybe if you are feeling creative, cut a Sea Ray script as the window, or something else clever, JL, Rockford, even waves..... just thinking out loud.
