Stuck! Need advice ASAP 7.4 motor knock- need to get home!

Do you know the source of that longblock coming from Merc? ie: is it something they had leftover, is it rebuilt, or is it a casting they made. Just curious as these things are going to get harder and harder to find as time goes by and more of them fail :.-(

They told me that Mercruiser has a division specifically for remanufactured engines. In their experience they have the best, they are the ones that made them, track record. More importantly if they fail they not only warranty the engine but also the labor if you are using a Merc mechanic. They also offer extended warranties, not in a habit of buying them but in this case I think I might.

A frend that I know in Aug got two 7.4 merc factory rebulds for 91 350 dancer one motor was good the other lasted 2 hours. Needs head job whitch merc is paying for. there track record on 7.4 remans are not that good ask 4sons buddy with 41 dances he went through 9 motors.

That's what I heard too which is why I am using Merc mechanics and buying an extended warranty. I searched every supplier that I heard of on the net and found someone with a nightmare story about each one of them. The best solution I could find was someone with deep pockets to warranty and back their product.
