The Sunset thread inspired this one!
Can't have the good without the bad?
St. Clair Michigan on the St. Clair River.
Worst storm I've experience, glad I was on shore for this one. However another boat wasn't so lucky. A 30' sailboat was downbound shortly after this squall line blew threw. He did not make it in time to safe harbor in St. Clair. The winds and rain hit hard. He was force to through anchor in a very bad place, right in the middle of the shipping channel. One of the most narrow spots of the channel, 400' wide with a shoal and bend at that. Before he knew it he had a upbound 1000' foot freight and a downbound 700' freight headed right toward him. At the same time it started hailing 1 inch hail. He could not go on deck to pull anchor without being pelted. Somehow the great navigational skills of these Great Lake Captains managed to sail on ethier side of him.
Another ominous looking storm on the St. Clair River
