Hi All,

I don't know if any of you have heard of the Sonos System for streaming internet radio and mp3s at home, but I'd like to do something like that on my 300DA (Clarion XMD4 Head Unit).

Specifically, I like the Sonos because I can play mp3s off my NAS (hard drive) and control volume, songs etc, with my iPod Touch. When I have a wireless internet connection, I can then stream napster and rhapsody. So...

I'm thinking to setup the Sonos system on my boat, I would need to wire in a NAS, a wireless access point (for control with the iPod) and a sonos zoneplayer. If I was on shore, I would connect to the internet wirelessly thru my laptop and allow the sonos to connect through my laptop.

This is the best I can come up with, but it seems rather ugly. Anyone got a better model for streaming a large (+200GB) music collection with a remote control?

My head unit supports bluetooth audio. No router required. I paired my head unit with my iPhone, and can stream Pandora or iTunes directly to the sound system. Works great for me. And it works anywhere (for iTunes) or anywhere I get a good enough cell (for Pandora).

You might want to see if there is an add-on for your head unit to support BT Audio.

I could use a new head unit anyway. What kind do you have, and what did it cost?

Pioneer FH-P8000B is what I have. About $250 online. There are lots of other choices though. Remember that changing brands will force you to change CD changers, remote controls, etc. So be prepared for that if you buy something different.

I guess I am going to go with the Clarion M303. I was hoping that it would work with the other components (disc changer, hard wired remote). After reading this thread, it seems that nothing will work with the new head unit. I could live with just the volume control working on the hard wired remote control. Since the light on the new wired remote is so bright I might just go with the wireless RF remote (no buying a new wire or having to run the wire and no brightness issue, also the wireless remote is cheaper).

When you guys changed out to the M303 your disc changer did not work at all and the hard wired remote did not work at all including no volume control, is that correct?

Any thoughts on skipping the hard wired remote and going to the cheaper wireless remote?

Whoops. Meant to put in a different thread, but any help here would be appreciated anyway. See below regarding Clarion M303

Use Tango remote app for an Ipad or Iphone and run the hard drive to the stereo via laptop. no need for bluetooth then.
