I recently cleaned my AC strainer (ARG-P Series)the hard way. I did not know of the "spanner wrench" and so I shut off sea cock and removed the four screws on the bowl. While cleaning it out I think I sprayed off the o-ring on the top of the bowl into the lake. I might have been imagining things, but I can't stop worrying about it. I assume there is an o-ring, but am not sure. I left sea cock closed and re attached the bowl to the strainer.

Can anyone confirm if there is an o-ring on top of the bowl? And if so where I can get one?I feel really foolish, but any advice is really appreciated.

There is an o-ring on top of the bowl. You can probably see the lip in sits in...

Don't feel too stupid as I did the exact same thing last year. I have to break mine down twice a year and clean the crap and barnacles out of them and, sure enough, last year I rinsed that o-ring right off into the river. I was in a tight spot and put a bead of RTV silicon on the thing and bolted it back up until I got back from a cruise last year. It will leak without the gasket but the RTV held fine.. I got a new bowl and gasket last fall for the thing.

RTV is a good thing to have in the "spares" box...

bring the part of the bowl with the O ring seat to your local auto parts store. I know NAPA has them. They'll fit the right one for you. Probably .50 cents...

Thanks so much guys. I guess this in one way to learn, get in there and start messing things up. However, I won't make the mistake again!

I tap ours very lightly with a hammer, emphasis on lightly, and it spins right off.
