I have this same problem on the top of the aft seatback. I had planned just to have the vinyl on that section of the backrest replaced, but I might as well try this stuff. I ordered it yesterday and it just came to the front door already. I'll try to take good before and after pictures.Mildew - Check, works great. I have the slope back canvas cockpit cover and during the rainy season I get mildew all over the back seat where the canvas meets the transom. I've been able to get 90% of the old mildew stains removed previously but could never get that last bit off. EB cleaned it right up and other areas that i've never had come clean since I purchased the boat two years ago.
Bottom line - buy some and try it for yourself. Guaranteed it's worth the 15 bucks...I'm very pleased.

I ordered it off Amazon a couple weeks ago after seeing Steve's first post. I was skeptical but also sick of spending fifty bucks on magic erasers and for fifteen bucks it's worth a shot.
Finally had a chance to give it a go on a few areas yesterday while doing some other work on the boat. It works great!
It is mildly abrasive but its very mild. The best part is the compound is capable if getting into the vinyl texture and grooves much more efficiently then a magic eraser and takes a tenth of the elbow grease to work.

I take great care in the things I own and maintaining them like new is very important to me. Once I'm able to restore an area neglected by the PO I'm able to keep it in that condition indefinitely with proper maintenance and protection. Unfortunately the vinyl in my boat had always been difficult to bring back to my satisfaction. I was contemplating getting the entire cockpit upholstery redone this season for this reason but after discovering this product I've changed my mind. All that needs to be done is a through cleaning with EB and then a protectant coating with the gel Hump mentioned and 303 so the mild abrasiveness is far less of a concern for me. Once it's clean just keep it that way is my motto!

Well it looks like I made believers out of just about everyone. Do I get some kind of prize or award for finding this stuff? Ok I will settle for a pat on the back and poke in the eye with a sharp stick.

Scott, try putting a large tub of Damp Rid in the cockpit when you have the canvas up, especially in wet months. It will grab a lot of moisture out of the air. We also use the smaller ones that hang on the clothes rod in closets. What a difference those have made! QM2 started using those and Jeanie is super thrilled at how fresh the boat smells now.
I'll pass on the poke and go for the pat...I ordered two cans. It will be two weeks before I can report back. My vinyl is already pretty sweet but ya never know!Well it looks like I made believers out of just about everyone. Do I get some kind of prize or award for finding this stuff?
