Boaters beware!!! I have had fuel stolen from my boat :smt013
2 weeks ago when I had a girls weekend I put the boat up with between a 1/4 and a 1/2 tank in each tank. Last weekend when I started the boat I was on E in both tanks. I went to MM and boat these fuel lock things so hopefully this never ever happens again. I now just hope that I have enough fuel to get to the gas dock. Luckily it's not too far, but I didn't want to chance it with just myself and my daughter on the boat. So I am waiting for my husband to help me with it.

I was so angry:smt013 NOW I am sad:smt009 and Angry:smt013

Has anyone else had this issue?

BEWARE of fishermen in low riding bass boats... I had this happen to me a couple of years ago with my 240 DA, but it was lift kept and very easy to syphon. Turned out to be fishermen pulling into the empty slip next to me and running a hose over to my boat whenever they needed fuel. I found out is was fishermen when talking about my misfortune a few months later when talking to a dockmate that happened to see a couple of guys in a bass boat in the slip next to me one day. He didn't think anything of it since it looked like they were fishing...

do they have video surveillance at your marina?

Sorry to hear about the stolen fuel.

unfortunately no video surveillance, we have a locked gate with a code. But a slip just opened up right across from our boat. So Fred's probably right, they probably just slipped right in there and no one saw anything. It's very frustrating and sad that people would have the nerve to do this.

well I would tell the harbor police what happened so they can keep a lookout for suspicious boats. depending on how much fuel they stole, it could be classified as a felony and gets a little more attention if it's reported.

Thanks!! for the suggestion that's a great idea and I will definately do that. I would say they got probably 80 gallons or somewhere there abouts. Not enough I will go broke from a refill but enough to make me good and mad!!

Locked gates doesn't keep people out if they come in the harbor by water... unfortunatly. Gives people a sense of security, to bad it's a false sense.

Isn't that the truth! I always just assume that I am safe from axe murders and bandits, but I never thought about them coming by boat. Damn!! now I will have nightmares!! of Jason driving a bass boat!!:wow:

Can you provide details? Cost? Function? Stainless Steel? Sorry about the theft. I've been paranoid about that. I don't have anyone on either side of me and I have fuel ports on both sides. I've thought about marking the waste access as "Fuel Syphon."

what a great idea! maybe you can market these through BOE!

The brand name is PERKO they are locking inserts that unlock with a key. You don't have to make any modifications to your gas cap which is great. They insert in the opening and lock with the key. the cost was $25.99 a piece, not too bad considering the money you have in your gas tanks.

I had my F-350, truck camper with my river boat hooked up. We decided to stay at a hotel that night (better half-decision). The truck was full of diesel, boat had 80 gallons of gas and propane tanks were full.:smt021

You guessed it! The next morning, no diesel, boat empty and they stole the propane bottles!:smt013

I can feel your pain.

Stop stealing my bits! I posted the relabeling of fuel/waste first dammit!

I get no respect I tell 'ya, no respect.

Can you only imagine a mouthfull of Poo that has been siting smoldering for weeks???? That might prompt them to tear your boat up. Which is worse? Stolen gas or boat repairs?
Table Rock lake in southwest Missouri is where Drama Queen is as am I. The surrounding area is a mecca for Meth-Head Hillbillies that are always causing problems. It is too bad beacuse the lake is just beautiful. My buddy had his lake house broken into over the winter and the people just made themselves right at home. He caught them sleeping and used them for battting practice. I carry a pistol on my boat...anyone else?

Unless you are police, you are not allowed in NJ......WAY too many gun control laws here!!!!!! In NY, you're not even allowed to have a 12 guague flare gun....or at least that used to be the law there....handheld flares only.

well I am thinking about one now that I have to worry about Jason floatin on up with his axe in the slip across from me. But my luck I would shoot the bottom of my boat and sink it.
