Still Pond

Thanks gredmer...............I noticed your boat is a 2007, did you take delivery yet, did you get it from MM Gunpowder?

P.S. you didn't see anybody on my boat did you.............LOL

John
I bought the boat at Imperial and they just yesterday took it up to Joppatowne. I'm due to take delivery on April 2nd. I'm keeping it at a slip at Gunpowder for this season but next year will probably head over to the Seneca for gas $$ sake.
I really like Gunpowder Cove for the people, ammenities, and convience but spend most of my time in the Middle River/Hart/Miller Island areas so that long haul up the river may be too costly for me.
Do people congregate at Maxwell Point anymore? I had heard people were warned to stay away due to unexploded ordinance but do people heed those warnings?
Anyway, I'm supposed to be slipped at (I believe) E47, the long floating pier, so I'll look for you and say hi this summer.

Oh, and the only thing around your boat was 20-30 seagulls.

I use to have a slip at Gunpowder but only store there for the winter now, once in a while I will launch the 210BR at Mariner Point and take a spin around the marina, I will keep an eye out for you.

Negative on Maxwell Point, APG put up markers and you can't get in close any more, use to be a great spot!

Darn those sea gulls

I churned mud for about 100 meters last summer in shallow water on the lower Potomac. Did a real nice job cleaning the crud off of my props, and adding lots of gray hair where I really did not need anymore.
Per Frank W's suggestion I ran slowly for about a mile to flush my strong seals. There was no mud in my strainers so I was lucky.
When I see shallow water coloration on a chart I get a little queasy to this day.

All part of learning the differences between a 320 and a 420.

regards
Skip

I'll have to look for you next Friday. Taking delivery of the 320 from MM gunpowder.
I feel like a kid on Christmas eve.

I know I'm straying off topic, but are you joining us for the Inner Harbor trip?????

I know exactly how you feel as I take delivery of my 300 on April 2nd from Clark’s Landing – it will really be Christmas in April!

Is this one of those “off topic†discussions that I heard someone scold us for? :smt017

Anytime from April to October is good for me. Except the week of July 4th.

There was a Still Pond raft up being planned on the Boat US web site for July 22 I think. (hopefully Sam1 won't be there)

Sounds like fun! Our summer's starting to look full, but we'd be interested if the calendar lets us!

Jeff

Seems like Still Pond is a very popular destination for many of the upper bay CSR members. I'll throw this out for comment.....

If you are planning on going to Still Pond and are looking for company, post a message here and be prepared for the potential of several boats coming along side and rafting up. If you are going to Still Pond and want to be alone,or, are rafting up with a specific group of people, post nothing and the rest of us will leave you alone. I think this will help to avoid sticky situations where a "No' response to a "request to come aside" would be appropriate. Comments??? Suggestions??? Am I out to lunch????? :smt043

I post this because there have been situations where we were anchored, wanted to be alone, and had several friends call and ask to come aside and raft. I told them we really wanted some alone time (read into that whatever you want  ) and we would see them back at the marina. Some understood without problem, others wanted to know if we were pissed or did they do something to offend us. Just my $.02.

We are up for the Still Pond raft up. (and now we are back on topic too!)

Perhaps we could have those wanting to raft up fly a CSR flag or burgee. Assuming we could talk the management into adding these to the online store. (insert not so subtle hint)

Do people overnight at this spot?

Jim- Good luck on the 2nd.

Thanks Mark. I see no reason why our deliveries shouldn’t go very well as both dealers have been around a long time and have excellent reputations. One of my previous boats came from MM.

BTW, I just learned that a new movie has just been released that I assume must be about my boat and I can’t wait to see it. Perhaps you have seen the advertisements, the title is simply ………… 300.

John -- Where does the Michele Ann tie up now? We really must plan a rendezvous long before the July BIH event! (We're at Long Beach in Frog Mortar Creek)....and down the street from you

Deb..............I'm still on the hard at Gunpowder, but that will just be for one more week, then it's off to Bush River Yacht Club for the season.

Definetly on getting together before BIH (stop in or I will stop down).............heck why don't we here at CSR start looking at dates for a Still Pond raft off and get something planned.................anybody in? Should we start a new thread?

John
