Still looking at 340's. Thoughts on 1988 340 sedan bridge?

Twin 454 Mercruisers
I saw one of these up for sale. Anyone here have one and have anything to say about them? This one has 6.2 mpi engines installed in 2006. Any thoughts on how they compare to the old 454's, and also how the sedan compares in performance to the sundancer or express?

Thanks!

Check the cool fuel components. There are numerous posts about problems with them here and elsewhere on the net. Check the static line on the risers.

Im out of ideas!

Thanks. I'm not to that stage yet, I'm just looking for opinions on the particular boat. I'll definitely look into that more if I actually go look at this boat.

I owned an '89 340DB for 9 seasons. Loved the boat. We looked at some '88s also but we preferred the "galley-up" and the 2nd stateroom beneath the dinette that the '89 offers.

The boat was a dog with the 7.4s. Cruise at around 18mph and burn 30GPH. Capable of going mid 20s but you'll go broke running at that clip.

Very comfortable boat but I'd hold out for a 1989 - just my opinion!

I have a friend who has a real nice 2006 340 DA for Sale at our dock.
You can find it at Elite Boat Sales.
Boat is a Dale Hollow Lake, State Park Marina.

I think Nick is looking for a 340DB (sedan bridge). And your friend's boat costs probably >2.5x as much as a late 80s 340DB - vastly different price point!

It started with looking at a 340 ec last year, then almost buying a 340 da last month (there's a whole thread on that one, which is back up on cl again with a lower asking price after I walked away). Im still leaning more towards the 340 da 1988-1989, but I'm trying to keep my options open since there's not much out there in the age and price range I'm shopping in.

And I think a 2006 340 da is probably 5-6x the max price I'm currently shopping.

Also the sedan bridge I saw appears to actually be a 305 not a 340. My mistake, but there's still a few ones out there I can check out.

Me and my wife just bought a 1986 340 Sedan Bridge with the twin 7.4 mercruisers (454ci)
This is the first big boat that I have owned, and have a ton to learn about this type of boating. Been on boats my whole life, but fishing or ski boats 20ft or less.
I found this site and joined up to learn as much as I can. Maybe one day I'll be able to help someone else. Till then good luck!

Welcome to CSR. I do miss the Northshore and hope to make it back some day. You will find all sorts of good info here.

I have a 2002 340 on this site worth looking at. Not sure what your price range is, however.

Any 2002 is way way out of my price range.

I'm going to look at another 1989 340 da this weekend. Hopefully all goes well this time.

We have had our '83 DB for about a year now. it still has the 454's, and yes, they burn a lot of gas. but it is a smooth cruiser, and handles nicely. A bit tough docking, my '77 Carver Mariner was better at that, but the room and design of the Sea Ray are sooo much better.

Nick, not sure of your location but I have a 1989 340 DA in Wildwood, NJ for sale. $14,000

Where is it listed? I have a friend who is looking for one. Is there a website where he can view the specifics and pictures?
