Stiff Steering

I have a 1997 Sundancer 270. The first time I took it out this Spring, the steering was extremely stiff at cruising speed. Seems to be moreso to port than starboard. Any ideas out there, before I have a mechanic look at it?

Often this is the result of a bad steering cable. Remove the pin from the cable at the power steering actuator ( mounted on transom behind motor)...steering still stiff ? = bad cable.
