When i have to switch from reverse to forward the shifter hangs up a little bit and have to give it a good nudge to get her into forward or return back to neutral then try going forward again and she stills ok. Any recommendations? I tried greasing her.

I had a similar issue with one of my shifters and it turned out the cable was a bit corroded where it connects in the outdrive housing. I don't recall exactly what it looks like but it was any areas that apparently should be dry but had some water intrusion. Dealer cleaned it up and its now smooth as silk.

Have you ever had your shift cable replaced? The pre-2004 Bravo 3s tend to be a bit hard shifting anyway but that sounds to me like it could possibly be the shift cable.

I'll check out where it meets the drive. I believe its the original shift cable. I have just a few more little things on my punchlist so I can get her in the water this weekend! woo hoo!!!

Another common problem with Bravos is the detente ball. I did a post a long time ago (can't find it) with some pics. I was having hard shifting and cleaned and lubed my detente ball area (no jokes here please) and it fixed my hard shift. Here is a few pics from when I pulled it mid-season.

Awesome detailed pictures...Will I loose my gear lube if i pull that plate plate off with the drive in upright position?

No you will not use gear lube. I cleaned the detant ball and spring with a degreaser. I then used 101 lube for the area and replaced the rubber gasket with a new one.

I was asking if i will lose the gear oil when i remove that plate. Should I drain the gear lube prior to removing the plate? Also on another note does anyone recall the size of the outside nut that holds the prop on? I have to bring home a socket from work and can't remember what size it was.

Now that is a way to answer a question! Nice post...but I wish we were allowed to make a joke comment. :)

No you will not lose gear oil. Okay Gunn, make a joke if you must!
