I just finished putting the stern drive back together after changing all of the seals, gaskets and the water pump impeller. My question is I notice when I turn the prop shaft it causes the shift lever to move into neutral. However if I turn the drive shaft from the top it is just very hard to turn but it works and doesn't shift itself into neutral . Is this just because of the new water pump impeller?
