Hello,

I just picked up a 2019 Sea Ray SPX 210 with a Mercury 150 and one of the first things I noticed was that the stereo, a Fusion MS-SRX400 wouldn't turn on. AFter messing around with it I found a 15a fuse in the back of the head-unit that didn't appear to be blown, but when I replaced it, seemed to fix the problem. Now, I've found that if I go over 5,000 rpm the stereo shuts off and then goes back to the startup loading screen. Then if I go back down below 5,000 rpm it will turn on completely but takes about double the usual loading time. Any ideas as to what's causing this?

Thanks!
Hunter

Your unit was possibly in some kind of "hung" state. Pulling the fuse just cycled power to it and rebooted it. It had nothing to do with the fuse itself. I'd check voltage at battery and radio while going through your RPMs. Its possible your unit has a voltage input sensitivity issue.

Sounds like the battery is dropping to below the volts needed to power the unit. They do pull some power. How old is the battery and is there any corrosion on your terminals. The other thing that I would check is the alternator if you only see this when at higher rpm's. Are you running any amps for the fusion?

Didn't even think about that Wylie, you are the expert for a reason. Thanks! Let us know what you find out, Hunter.

2019? Warranty? BTW who needs to run a gas engine over 5000 rpm?

Thanks for the info! I'm not running any amps for the stereo, the battery is the same age as the boat and connections seem to be ok. Any suggestions on how to narrow down the possible issues? I've done a lot of work on my Mercruiser engines but until now I've never had an issue with these Mercury 150's and really don't even know where to start.
I did recognize that the dealer propped it wrong... It currently has a 15x17 Black Max three blade prop and WOT lets me go up to almost 7000rpm, when the max should be 5000-5800. On top of that, it idles at just under a thousand rpm when the sticker on the motor says it should idle at 650. It sounds like I'm gonna have to be contacting the dealer again.

If it's overvoltage as Wylie proposed, I would think it would be the alternator voltage regulator failing. I think Vessel View outputs voltage if you've got it, I don't see where the fusion does, you could probably get away with monitoring voltage at the cigarette lighter port. The fusion OM says it can take 16V, and you shouldn't see over mid 14s coming from the alternator.

Something else to think about, you should have two power connections, one constant for the memory and one ignition switched. IIRC, the memory is wired straight to the battery so may want to check for a loose connection there. I also had an issue with the nuts backing off the battery switch terminal on my SPX.
