On my 2000 340 Sundancer I have the original Clarion stereo, cassette player and CD player. There are 2 speakers in the cabin ceiling and 4 speakers in the cockpot. There's also a control unit on the dashboard to control functiopon, sound, channel selection, mute.

I'd like to upgrade the system and ,make the upgrade process as simple as possible. Can anyone recommend an "unplug" and "re-plug" system to use????

I realize it is probably not that simple but if I can make it as simple as possible, then that's the goal

Any suggestions of systems to look at?

Thanks

Fusion stereos are very nice in that they are linkable across the NMEA 2000 network. If you have a Garmin chartplotter, chances are that it can control the stereo via the network.

As mentioned Fusion Radios are very popular and N2K compatible and can be controlled by some MFDs. They may be fairly easy to replace you current setup but that will depend on what and how things are currently wired. Unfortunately you will need to deal with replacing the remotes as they will not be compatible. Fusion gives you a few options including the use of a mobile app in addition to wireless remotes and MFD control.

If you currently don't have a n2k device to control it and are in need of a chartplotter, etc, it might be a good time to do an expanded project and kill two birds.

Love the Fusion head unit, hate the app. In a typical for a hardware company their software sucks. Who would develop software that you cannot control the volume from the phone buttons when on Bluetooth?

It is fairly easy to swap out if you just go slow, move one wire at a time and suddenly your new head unit is connected. I did mine with crimp on connectors that plug in so once tested and marked I unplugged it all and prepped for the physical install. I too was replacing a cassette player and got a single din that fit right in the existing hole.

Good luck…

Fusion all the way, for many reasons but as mentioned the app is a real PITA and needs work. The rest of the remotes work like they should and can be assigned to a zone, as where the app cannot. But other choices don't even offer all of what Fusion does.

I went the easiest way, stayed with Clarion, I still can use my two hard wired remotes, my 2 cordless remotes and my Bluetooth on my phone... M505 I believe is my new model.
