So I didn't pay much attention to one of my mates complaints about a speaker not working while we were dodging six footers in sustained 20s on our bow...go figure!!!

This weekend, while smoking a cigar and drinking a cold one, was different! I was indeed paying attention and he was right.

However, I've got multiple speakers out and can't figure out why. She's equipped with a Clarion system and the upgraded cockpit sound which consists of another amplifier, subwoofer, transom speakers and an additional transom remote.

The following speakers do not work:

Starboard cabin
Port cockpit
Subwoofer
Port transom

I can't find a balance control on the Clarion head (fader is on the front panel).

I used the reset function on the head to reset the entire system and flipped the appropriate breakers on and off mutliple times to no avail.

Any insight is greatly appreciated!! :smt100

Steve,

I'm not sure if all non-working speakers are related to the same issue, but after each winter I had to reset the speakers on my 320 due to the fact that when the batteries are disconnected for the winter the system switches back to the the factory default setting.

Here's the guide I've used:

MAKE SURE STEREO AMPLIFIER BREAKER IS ON

Setting LOW PASS FILTER
This function allows you to set the low-pass filter
for sub-woofer output.
• The tactory default setting is "REAR".
– REAR IS WHAT I NEED TO PLAY COCKPIT SPEAKERS.
1. Press and hold the [T] button for 1 second or
longer to switch to the adjustment selection
display. “SW LPF 120” will be displayed.
2. Press the VOLUME DOWN button to select "REAR"
3. The setting changes in the following
order:
REAR ~.LPF 50 ~ LPF 80 ~ LPF 120
4. Press the [T] button to return to the previous
mode.

5. TO ADD VOLUME TO CABIN CLICK ON A-M UNTIL SEE FADE, THEN ADJUST DOWN/UP BUTTONS TO DESIRED SETTING.

I had the same problem with my XMD3 system. If you have a series XMD head then go to the setup for the "low pass filter". The manual will say that the factory default setting is "LPF 120" however the correct setting is "REAR".
If it is a XMD type head then:
Press and hold the [T] button for 1 second or longer
Arrow right[>] and select "SW LPF"
Press the arrow up button to setting changes to "REAR"
Press [T] button to return to previous mode
The Settings are on pager 14 of the XMD3 manual

Good luck, Took me several weeks of research for this solution

Thank you both!!! I'll certainly give this a try and report back!!

When this happened to me, it was because I bumped a circuit breaker next to the right-hand battery switch, and turned off an amplifier.

I think radio is getting powered regardless if the amp or battery switch is off or on. This is to keep the memory going. When you disconnect the batteries (pos. or neg.) that's when it goes to factory reset. At least this is how it was on my 320, but I've heard from others the same feedback. It wouldn't make much sense to have the unit reset if you turn off the amp switch. For example, if you leave the boat for a week or two and deside to turn off all AC and DC components, including the battery switches (just in case if marina looses power) this would mean that now you have to mess with resetting your radio settings......this doesn't make sense to me. I turn most things off, incl. the batteries when I leave my boat for a week and I never had to do another reset because of that.

Quick update.....the source unit I have is a Clarion CMD5. I'll play with the menus to see if I can get to something equivlent to the setting you guys mentioned.

Okay guys.....check this out. MarineMax sent a tech up to the boat today to replace the shower sump pump under warantee and look at the speakers. The report....all speakers working fine....all connections to amp, etc. tight.

All I did was shut the stereo off before I left the boat on Saturday.

And now everything works?

Steve D.: FYI, I had my batteries disconnected all winter and when I reconnected this spring the radio and all speakers worked fine.

Hope anybody is still on this thread. I have a CMD5 on my Dancer 290da and it just did the same - cockpit speakers stopped working. I'm electrodeficient but which button on head is the "T" because I can't find the low pass filter setting anywhere in the menu setup. Can't find the amp either for that matter.

Appreciate any help.

Ron
