I am preparing to start the stereo upgrade on my 330 and was wondering, did the boat come with a factory amp? And if so, does anyone know where it is located? I am meeting a stereo installer buddy tomorrow to assess the situation. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks .... Todd

Mine is located in the starboard hanging locker close to the midcabin. I can´t tell if it is standard from when the boat was new but I think so.

If factory installed should be in the aft stbd. hanging locker, on the inside vertical face towards vessel center..

Hey Todd!
I'm sure you will love having the stereo upgrade. Check out my photos to see what I did for the upgrade back in 2001. I realize things have changed a lot since then, but the speaker placement options will not have changed. The amp I have running the sub and rear speakers is close to 800watts and really rocks! My objective when I installed this system was to have crystal clear sound at WOT-yes, I achieved my goal. :)

All speakers are JL Audio and still sound great 8 years later. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Enjoy the ride!
Stuart

Thanks Stuart. You are probably the man I need to talk to. My bud came down with me today to get an overview of the job ahead. He's a proff installer but primarily cars. I gotta say I may have to wait till the off season. I'm gonna check out your pics for sub and speaker location..... I am changing the head unit to a clarion M309, adding 4 JL audio amps, two 8" subs in the cabin, one 10" sub in the cockpit and four more 6-7" coax speakers to the 4 already installed. I want to add the audiovox key farb RF remote for when I'm on the dock and a not so pleasant  song comes on so I can skip ( or turn up) depending on my mood! Russ Calasant had real nice spacers made to add speakers to the arch access panel spots and I think I'm gonna have the guy make a pair for me. Might add Sirius Sat too..... What am I thinking?????? Todd

Stuart, I just looked at your pics. That is some sub man!!!! I don't have the space for a box because with three little ones there is always a ton of crap I have to shove under the seats when out and about. With that Killer stereo and TV setup, when are you gonna step up to satellite?? C'mon , you know you're lookin for another project!!! LOL

Thanks for the compliments Todd. It sounds like your plans are way beyond what I did for my system. If you want some details I would be happy to share my knowledge over the phone sometime. PM me and I will give you my number.

Personally I can't imagine 8+ speakers in the cockpit. With what I have currently, the cockpit has incredible sound and an adjustable sub to boost! Sub location without a separate box is tough. You could possibly do a ported sub located in the line locker under the helm.

Inside, I replaced the standard speakers with JL's and left it at that. When I redo the head unit adding an IPOD access port I plan on another amp, but additional speakers are tough to add due to location. I would be interested in hearing where you are going to add these speakers.

I don't plan on adding a satellite due to a few reasons. 1) A possible upgrade in the future. 2) I don't spend enough time in the cabin to justify the $$$.

Let's talk!
