Is the steering suppose to be stiffer than a single? Also where do purchase the tele flex cable cant seem to find one on the net.

I just did a cable, and was recommended by my marina owner (he recommendations are usually on the money). My steering was very stiff. Now it's one finger steering. The old cable worked effort effortlessly when inspected, after it was removed. You can't go by that, as it binds while under tension. The easiest fix for stiff steering is to start with a new cable, especially if yours hasn't been replaced in some time. I bought mine on Amazon. Just do a search on that site.

What length was your cable,I looked a the parts manual and it showed 18.5. Is that correct?
Thanks

Just called Sea Ray, they said I cant purchase a cable. Need to order a whole new helm. The new style cable won't fit the old helm.

I wasn't able to get the part number off the cable and Sea Ray advised me of the correct length cable, which was 17' for my boat. The twins had a longer cable I believe. If you go to the Sea Ray archives site and look up the parts manual it shows your cable part number 126920 and length 18.5 feet. I would think you can just go to Amazon (where I bought mine) and look up the cable, once you find out exactly what you need.

The old cable will have the length stamped on it. The book has two Teleflex part numbers 974071 which is 15 feet long and 974089 which is 16 feet long. The 15 foot cable is for twin engine applications.
