Steering Position SmartCraft Alarm

Hello everyone,

took the boat out for its first run of the season just to make sure everything was cool. coming back into the marina i got a smartcraft alarm......steering position. any ideas what this alarm means????

My guess is your boat is equipped with steeering angle sensor(s) and there is a problem with them. If you have a way of displaying the steering angle on your boat then check to see if it is working properly. On my boat I know you can't display the angle on the little digital readout on my smartcraft tachometer but my smartcraft interfaced chartplotter has a gauge for it. If you have Vessel View or an SC5000 maybe they can display the angle. On my chartplotter there is a gauge that will display the direction that my outdrive is pointed but obviously it does not work without the sensor and the smartcraft fault for steering angle always shows up on my smartcraft enabled chartplotter (see picture below) when I display smartcraft faults on it.
