Hi,
I have a 1997 Sea Ray 260 with a 7.4L Mercruiser Engine. The manual says there is a zerk fitting where the steering cable comes into the pump. I have looked and looked, but have been unable to locate it. Can anyone help? Are there some models where there is no zerk fitting at this point?

Thanks

I have a 1994 Sundancer 270 and I can't find a grease zerk either. My book says there are two! One for the cable and one for the valve. I am having very stiff steering problems, and my "guy" says it is probably the steering cable. Since he can't get to it for three weeks, I am going to start working on it tomorrow. Any suggestions?

Guys > I'm gonna look today. My tech says it's where the power steering comes in to the actuator. I'm gonna look. I have very stiff steering too.

Most likely cause is corrosion in the guide tube, penetrating oil, heat, and grease will help. If not ,you need to remove the cable and guide tube and clean tube with a 12Ga shotgun wire brush. Its not listed in any manual but YOU must grab a handfull of grease and apply it to the exposed steering cable "e"
