Michigan DNR has decided that repaving and re-organizing the parking lot was a good idea during the summer boating season. Spots are limited and the entire ramp is a mess. Early boaters are parking in such a way to waste available spots.

It is my understanding the ramp is closed for the next two weeks starting today and the parking lot construction will continue thru mid July (DON'T QUOTE ME)!

That sounds like something MI would do. I grew up there and I'm not a bit surprised the state is in the financial mess it's in. They have the finest politicians money can buy running everything from the Detroit school systems to state highways--everything is AFU.

No state is perfect. Kinda hard to re-surface a parking lot in January here in Michigan. Lighten up.

Really? Do you want to stay with that? Repaving a parking lot isn't a January or June proposition.

Repaving should have occurred in April when there is less demand.

Really Kaycock, your reply was really no value add to my thread or this forum and I am not even sure why you replied as I am pretty sure you dont launch your 268 Sea Ray on any in-land lakes. I was just trying to warn people of construction at the ramp and maybe vent a bit.

I boat on inland lakes. This ramp renovation was announced in 2010. Funding was not available until a month or so ago.
FENTON TOWNSHIP, Michigan — Plans for the Lake Fenton boat access are leaving lake residents worried about overcrowding on the lake.
The Department of Natural Resources and Environment spoke with residents about plans to renovate the boat access, including adding larger parking spaces for vehicles and boat trailers, at an informational meeting on Wednesday at the Fenton Township Office and Civic Community Center.
As part of the plan, the renovation would include rain gardens and porous pavement, which would slow water runoff and capture it before it enters the lake, improving the lake’s water quality, reducing erosion and prohibiting sediments and pollutants from entering the lake. The plan also includes reconfiguring parking spaces, widening the entrance to allow easier access with larger vehicles and boats, adding two new bathrooms and making the access ADA compliant.
Although parking would be reduced from 72 parking spaces to 65 parking spaces as part of the plans, the number of vehicle and boat trailer parking spaces would increase from 35 to 57 parking spaces.

KayKock I just looked at several of your +800 posts and you always seem to help and provide good information to others, so I'm not sure what you were trying to attempt with your comment on my thread. I bring this up to you and your response is that of a 2 year old, repeating my opinion of your comment on my thread making this thread useless to any other boater to frequents Lake Fenton and actually cares about why I am telling them to boat there. Nobody will read it because all they are going to see is 2 boaters in a pissing match because of one stupid ass comment.

I want to congratulate you on being the first user on my ignore list, feel free to add me to yours.

I will probably hate myself for this... but I just can not seem to stop myself... with a certain person passing away and being in the news I just have to say it... " Can we all get along..."
