Starting issue

Our new 2020 SDX 250 has twice not started at the end of day after being out and running fine. After the first time this happened and getting towed in, the boat started up after a couple hours. I had no problems the subsequent 2 times out, but had the same issue the 4th day out.

I double checked our starting process and the usually advised trouble shooting ideas -- checked run/off switch, starting with throttle only, giving time to cool off, made sure we've got fuel, tried to fire up with the gas cap off and back on. It sounds like there is no fuel getting into the system and when it was close . . . like one congested cough.

The boat is new and I doubt that I've got a lemon. While I assume all is in good working order (I know assuming is bad), but I want to see if I'm missing anything before I start "opening" things up or even taking to a mechanic.

Only other thing of note is that I'm at 6230 ft elevation.

Thanks for any insight!

Should be under warrenty if it is new. May be vapor locking check where your fuel lines are running and if near a heat source insulate that area.

Sounds like vapor lock which would be odd but your elevation might be a contributing factor, or a leak in the suction side of your fuel system. Let the dealer have at it. You can call Mercruiser factory support for their ideas before you go, they are very helpful. Call their toll free number, and have your engine serial number handy.

I'd love to know how this issue got resolved in the end. Thanks.
