Hello,
i recently purchase a 2010. Sundeck 260 with a 350 Mag Mercruser
when I attempt to start the boat I get two messages on the dash.
first "Critical engine switch" and "Throttle position sensor not working properly "

i've checked fuses, relays, voltage, ignition switch and engine plug. Still getting same massage. Like to know if anyone has been down this road?

Probably the TPS like it says.

Think I may have located the issue or at least one of the issues. The 90 fuse on the starter is opened. It was very difficult to remove, I'll get another one and try again tommorrow .

Usually, fuses blow for a reason. Might want to scare up an inductive ammeter to check starter draw once you replace that fuse.

Yes, I agree. The dash warnings are gone and I did check for shorts but didn't see any as yet. I did break a stud on the starter soloniod so new starter goes in today. I wish a had a friend that was 2' tall and mechanically inclined I could put down there to install this. Very tight space.

While you were in there you should have cut the red wire away from the 90A and wired it direct to the starters main stud. You dont need a 90A with a 50A together. The 90A should be for the alt feed only

Bt Doctur, Please don't tell people to remove/bypass fuses! The engineers at Mercruiser put it in there for a reason, and if they could save a penny by leaving it out, they would have. Are you going to be financially responsible when the boat goes up in flames due to your bad advice?

You should start another thread with your new topic if you want advice.

#3 on this. Never remove or bypass a fuse. It,s there to keep your boat from burning to the waterline.

It went smoothly, I paid a ki$120 bucks to do it. Installing that fuse was one of the hardest jobs I can remember doing.
