Had my first starting issue while fishing yesterday. Turning the key only produced a clinking sound at the solenoid behind the carburetor, I believe I now understand that to be the "slave" solenoid. I was able to jump out the slave solenoid and get the engine running so I could get back to my mooring. This morning I replaced the slave solenoid but still have the same problem. Does the fact that I can jump out the solenoid limit my potential components to check? After reading some of the other starter issue threads, it sounds like it I should be checking for corroded connections next. The engine is a 2000 mercruiser 5.0, any advice would be appreciated.
