Hi All,

Let me start by saying I am a complete newbie to SeaRay so I am quite happy to accept that I am missing a very basic step somewhere along the line.
I have recently picked up a 2005 270 Sundeck.
It has a 2011 Mercruiser 496 engine with only 25 hours on it.
The boat ran well for the sea trial but following transport to the marina and a 2-3 week break before I could get down to Florida to play with it I could not get the boat to start last weekend.
I switched the batteries on to "both", switched the kill switch on, turned the ignition switch on, there was a short beep, the fuel pump worked, trim worked (all other electricals appeared to be working fine), I disconnected the gears and gave the throttle a pump then returned to neutral, turned the key but the starter motor wouldn't turn over at all.
There wasn't a solenoid click noise (if indeed there is a solenoid somewhere in that relay)
Am I missing something really obvious? Is there another switch or button that I needed to turn on?
The marina guys helped check battery power and they were pretty much fully charged.
I have read that there is a neutral safety cutoff switch - should that be the first thing that I check or are there other culprits that I should start with first?
Cheers,

Paul

Make sure you are in neutral, then use a jump box battery pack. It does sound like bad battery.

A couple of things might be happening.

Is the shift lever in neutral?
Do you have fuse panel with a breaker for the ignition? Is it switched to on?
Bad ignition switch?

2005 boat should be fuel injected, so don't pump the throttle before starting

A few thoughts:
Check the main breaker on the engine.
Bypass the slave solenoid in the starter circuit to see if starter spins.
Verify you are actually in neutral (Repeat the original pump the fuel process to verify it goes back to neutral.

When you turn on the key, gauges jump to life, beep happens and fuel pump energizes, correct? When you turn the key to start do the gauges go dead or stay energized?

When you say the checked the battery's How did they check them? Did they charge them for a 1/2 hr then draw test them? If not you may want to do that.
