I've seen that shwrinkwrap installers also hang few bags of starbrite mildew gas bags https://drshrink.mytrainsite.com/Store_ProductDetail.aspx?pid=53I90h155Fh9F2cBe

Can some one explain how to properly use install them? From what I understand they release some sort of gas to protect from moisture. Does the bag need to be opened or does the gas slowly gets through the bag's material out?

I can't find the mash type sack where to put the bags in order to hang them, do you guys know where shrinkwrappers get those?

BTW, I also install a bucket of no damp in the cockpit http://www.westmarine.com/webapp/wc...true&storeNum=5002&subdeptNum=12&classNum=380

Is there a better method you guys use to control the moisture in the cockpit?

Thanks,
Alex.

From my experience, the bags/buckets are best kept for smaller, more confined/closed areas.

For the cockpit, you can have cheap, plastic vents installed in the shrink wrap.

Agree with Dennis. Ventilate the area under the shrink wrap but use the mildew control stuff in the cabin.

I had vents installed, but shrinkwrappers also placed tha mildew gas bags in the cockpit. I thought this was something as an extra for moisture control. I always place no-damp buckets in the cabin, head, engine room and cockpit. But, the gas bags thing is a new puzzle to me.

Calcium Chloride (Ice Melt) and Kitty Litter....50-50 mix in small plastic containers spread through out the cabin.

Those bags don't look too big. Could you use some nylons ?

The only reason I can see for installing the mildew control bags in the cockpit under the shrinkwrap is that they charged you $20 for something they paid $5.

Don't breath in that stuff, BTW. Don't go into the closed cabin unless you first ventilate for several hours.

Best regards,
Frank

They actually very small and the guys that did the shrinkwrap had 3-4 of them in a mash sack tied on each side of the windshild.

Frank,
I actually wasn't charged for it anything extra. I did requested access door and the vents. So, I though it was just part of the deal.
