Starboard sputtering then stall

Great day on water. Had a good run home (about 20m). Engines ran great (temps, pressure, etc.). When I came off of plane the starboard engine started to sputter, wouldn't allow throttle, then stalled. Started back up and more of the same. Went and put 50 gallons of new fuel in thinking maybe I had run out. Still the same. Thoughts / ideas? I checked the fuel filter and it seems ok.
 
Does it only have trouble at idle? Will it get up to cruising speed, and how does it run then?
 
Seems to not want to start now. Weird it happened all at once. Tack jumped around a bit when it was sputtering. Wouldn't take throttle (I.e iac). No errors on gauges. Is the fuel pick up on the back of the tank? Wondering if I was low if when on plane it worked ok because bow up and forward movement raising the fuel level at the tank. Came off plane the fuel dropped below and now maybe it needs to be bled? Won't be back to the boat until this weekend. Trying to think of scenarios before I start working on it.
 
If its the IAC the engine will still start if you advance the throttle past idle while cranking. The plugs usually don't all fail at the same time so i doubt that's the issue. There is no distributor cap on these engines as each cylinder has its own coil, so that's not it. I'd be thinking its a fuel supply issue. When you turn on the ignition you should hear the fuel pumps (2) power up. Compare engine to engine and see if the problem engine sounds different.
 
Thanks guys. Iac does make some sense. Would be nice if that simple. Odd no error codes.
 
Mechanic thinks it was causes by water in the fuel. I think I ran out of gas :smt013. Either way, boat is running! :smt038 Now, best way to keep water out of fuel? I use the boat and fill it up about once a month. Wondering if this was leftover?
