nope, straight pieces only
use dead blow hammer instead rubber mallet, patience and second person for help (one person making bent while other screwing down insert)
it is tricky to make it nice
always start from bow end and keep going toward aft

Boatmailster is right. We have (mostly) always started underneath the davit to make sure one of the holes is not directly underneath (screwgun purposes). If you start at the back aft dead center, make sure you measure out, where the metal is going to land under the davit, we use a small hand saw to cut to fit.

Also around the curves, your extra person needs to push in with one hand closest to the rubber trim and pull out with the metal with the other hand to prevent puckering at the countersink holes.

We have however, had pre-bent metal for the A.J's. Dont know if you can get those for other models or not. I personally have only seen them ordered pre-bent on the A.J.'s.

Also, we only use 3 lbs rubber mallets.

Hope this helps :)
