I know there are some good anchorage spots at St Michaels, but we've never used them. I've seen on the plotters that there are some at the entrance but they seem very exposed to river traffic. I've always stayed at a marina when I've visited. But want to anchor this time. Fall is a great time to visit.

Can someone tell me where the hood anchorages are, specifically? Want something that's within a short dinghy ride to the dinghy dock.

Thanks.

Three common anchorages are 1) inside the town harbor bight in front, 2) inside but between the museum and The Inn at Perry Cabin, and 3) outside in the Miles River, generally on the upriver side of the harbor entrance. A fourth is in San Domingo Creek, off the Choptank River and on the whole other side of town. We've found holding equally good in all those places; the first two fill up fast. Outside in the Miles River is more exposed to weather...
