We are on our annual journey to Ft Pierce from Beaufort, SC. Today, I actually didn't have the confidence to cross St Andrews Sound along the ICW. Waves were huge. I was rolling down and up them like that boat in the Perfect Storm. I felt I was going to eventually stuff the bow. I turned around and went to Jekyll Marina for the night. Probably the hardest day ever for me. Cold, windy, low tides, crossed 4 sounds with small craft warnings. Will try again in the morning. Weather is supposed to improve.

We went thru there a few years ago during the winter. The fog rolled in so badly I could not see the spotlight on the bow and the waves were rolling nicely. My shoulders were above my head. All I could do was shift from radar to GPS and depth sounder. Actually started out the inlet, not on purpose. Once back on track, came out of the fog, only to see a large Coast Guard cutter sitting there. Figured they were watching us on radar, laughing their a** off at us. Safe trip. Pictures please.

When in doubt, wait it out. Wish we were with you, below zero again here this morning. Safe travels.

Sounds like the correct decision.

The winds are kicking around from the north quite a bit this week, has things bumpy,

Sounds like you made some distance! Did you go back outside once you got around the sound?

Post a couple pics of the boat!
