Hello fellow boaters,

i have a 2005 Searay 360 sundancer with Yanmar 6lp-stp diesel engines
I keep finding unverified data online of top speed well above 30knots
but I m able to only get 24knots top speed trimmed on a calm sea

I m curious to see what other Yanmar 360’s are doing out there in real life
also did anyone came up with diesel burn per hour?

These are GREAT ENGINES as long as they are properly maintained and correctly propped

I had Yanmar 6LP's in my 10 Meter Trojan International.

Refitted in 2005 - owned till 2022 - NO ISSUES

It is important to be PROPPED CORRECTLY with these low displacement/high RPM diesels

YOU MUST MAKE CORRECT RPM AT WOT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lets see if I can post my numbers in a bit.

BEST !

After more than 10 years, I upgraded to VEEM props, increasing efficiencies and picking up 2-3 kts at cruise speeds.

Actual data attached.

This boat was equipped with twin FLOSCANS, which I removed before the sale and repourposed on my current 1996 450DA.

While the Yanmars were impressive, I do LOVE my CAT 3126TA's matched with the 45' Sundancer.

BOTH these engines are MECHANICAL DIESELS. Maintain them by the book (or better) feed them clean fuel and air and feed the raw water side in prime condition. Unlike electronic HPDI types, there's less to fail with the mechanical diesel design.

CRUISE DATA COMPARISION - Statute Miles:

33' Trojan 23-24 MPH getting 1.32 MPG

45 Dancer 24-26 MPH getting .94 - .90 MPG

Data attached below

The data you’re finding, are you sure it’s with diesel’s? Most 360DA’s are gas powered. I realize diesel was an option though. Mine is well above 30 knots wide open with gas 8.1’s.

The Trojan with the Yanmar Diesels and solid glass hull tipped the scales at 17,000 full water and fuel.

She carried a 13' beam !!!!!!!

WOT top speed with those engines was 31 MPH

Not to be compared with the crusader 454's

And just as a reference to the Dancer - totally different boat

BEST !
