This summer I have notice that the port engine in my sedan bridge 30 has developed a squeak or tapping sound, not real loud but I can hear it at idle and is nosier than the starboard engine. What's the possible causes? Valves? belts? Just wondering how serious a matter this could be.

Thanks in advance?

that's going to be a 'tuffy' trying to diagnose the problem without seeing the boat and hearing the sound.....

for a 'squeak' I would suspect a worn or loose serpentine belt or a worn water pump impeller....

a 'tap' could be many things.....you'll need to give us more details....
- when do you hear it?
- does it ever lessen or completely stop?
- does it change with engine rpm's?
- can you tell what part of the engine its coming from?
- is it a 'tap' or is it a 'knock'?.....a tap will usually sound lighter than a knock

I just ran the engine. Definitely not a knock, more like a tapping or clicking. I ran it up to 2700 rpm. It did not stop. I also did not getting any faster or louder. The tapping stayed the same rate and sound volume.

Run your motor with the belt off for a bit. If it's still making noise it's your motor, coupler or drive. Spin all your pulleys while the belt is off as well

if the rate of the ticking did not change with engine rpm's then it is likely not related to the engine....I'm wondering if the sound is coming from one of the transmissions.......does the rate of the ticking change once the engines are in gear and the boat is in motion?

if you have electric fuel pumps that might could cause a ticking independent of engine rpm's.....
