I spun a main bearing in my 85 sundancer. I was online and found a place that says I can upgrade to a 350 with 350 horse power. That a lot over the 260 hrp that the 350 has in it now. I would like to know if it can handle it.

What type outdrive do you have? If its an OMC 800 Stringer, I doubt it will hold up very long with that kind of power running thru it. There are upgraded gearsets available for those units. Check on ebay with a guy named Werner Wessler, he was an OMC tech and is selling his inventory. He would be the guy to ask, he may even have the parts.

It will probablly work, certainly will bolt up, I'd just be careful with WOT application and I think I'd avoid doing alot of hole shots. A drive shower would be a good idea too to help dissapate the heat from the extra power.

I had a feeling you were talking about usengines. Ive seen there site as well and thought about converting my 350 MAG to a 383 stroker with the 350 HP. Im assuming they would have to swap out ECM's for my conversion. A carbed engine should be very easy to do.

I was never able to get a hold of anyone on the phone.

If you convert it let us know how it turns out.

I wound up buying a new 496 MAG but plan on doing something with the water injested 350 MAG MPI this coming winter.

Parker, I can't help with whether or not your drive will handle the power, but at least you're not putting a big block in.

However, if I can add a little bit of advice... Are you saying that the place you called to make a purchase is the one telling you that it will work? I'm not saying they're lying (like I said I can't comment on whether it will handle the power or not). But, I would take Scorpio's advice and talk to someone that doesn't have a vested interest in selling you a product.

You know once again this is why I rely on this post. I think you guys are great.
Who sells a drive shower for the OMC?
I have talked with a local Shop here they concur on the extra power.

we dont get on it much at all anyway mostly just cruise and enjoy the water. Kids do like to tube and son wants to wake board so a bit extra I think will work.
