Nevermind that it’s snowing seventy miles north of here – it’s only crisply cool here, and songbirds are singing up a riot. Yesterday I finished up all the list of yard items on the honey-do list, and threw the ball with my son. Lacrosse and baseball seasons are about to begin. This morning very few browns and greys among the outfits at church, many more spring colors.
Driving over to my father-in-law’s house after lunch, I noticed the first early daffodils and cherry trees in bloom. In his yard a carpet of purple crocus.
This morning I still had a wintry tune playing – Keiko Matsui’s Deep Blue; that had to change. Driving home I switched on Russ Freeman and the Rippingtons’ Sahara. “Native Sons of a Distant Land” caught my suddenly upbeat mood perfectly.
It seems like I’ve been ready for spring since the day after New Year’s, and now it’s here. Yeah, we’ll have a number of cold snaps going forward, but that’s okay, because spring is here!
