First year with a SeaRay and cant wait for spring. My boatyard wants to charge me $200 to recommission the head, water and A/C system. Is this a simple process that I can do myself?

Thanks-

Possibly, but depends on what was done to it in the Fall. You'll need to find out that information and then post back. Get down in the bilge and look things over and see what's going on.

It could be as simple as flushing biodegradable antifreeze out. Or, it could be more involved with re-connecting specific cooling lines, hot/cold water cooling lines and collecting hazardous antifreeze.

Regardless, yes, it can be done by an owner - but it all depends on your knowledge and skill set. And that's something only you can judge.

Great comments from Dennis!

It's much easier than winterizing! But as Denis pointed out, it would help if you know haw it was winterized. I do my own winterizing and will leave it ready to drop in the water when spring comes... all hoses back on and tight, all plugs in, etc.. Then it's just a mater of getting the generator going and then the A/C.

Not at all difficult. The worst thing you can do is burn out the coil in your hot water heater because you neglected to remove the bypass. (don't ask)

I would hope they put it back together in the fall after winterization.
then it is just put in the plug, flush out the antifreeze, and drop it in the water.
Sometimes the ac, water, etc need primed or burped to get them started, but it is usually very simple. Have always done my own.

There are also some people in your area willing to stop by and lend you a hand and show ya how to. You supply a couple cans of Guinness and I'll show you how to get back in the water easy and cheap

now there's an offer a man that's close should take...well done :smt038

It's all in good faith. I've received alot of help both physical and knowledge wise from this web site and just looking to return the favor. I also hate when a marina that charges you hundreds if not thousands to winterize your boat also charges you 200 + to open some s eacocks, push some buttons, change around hoses (that should have been put back after wintering), flush some water and start a motor or 2or 3. It takes me all of 45 min to do this and I feel its just robbery. It should be included in your winterizing. And I lOve to work on boats. My therapy

Should be pretty simple and a good learning G experience. Only thing to look out for is if they bypassed the water heater. If the blue and red lines are disconnected and connected together then you have to connect them back to the water heater. It not the easiest thing G to figure out on a new boat. Snap a picture and post here. The AC and water usually just need to fill and empty. As for the AC I usually run it after I have the first run out of the way.
